Formerly the site of the National Center for Scientific Research, the Mont-Chiran Observatory, located at 1 m, welcomes hikers and sky enthusiasts for an unforgettable night under the stars of the Verdon!
Description
On site, in addition to exceptional views of the stars, you will find an orientation table.
A breathtaking panorama awaits you: the Écrins, Mercantour, Provence, and the Mediterranean. Meals and overnight stay at the refuge in 4-bed dormitories. There are 16 places available. Please note that we have no spring, so water is limited; you will not be able to take a shower, and the toilets are dry.
In the evening, an astronomer can show you the sky through a telescope under the Observatory's dome. It's advisable to bring very warm clothes, as the climate at this altitude is mountainous!
After the night at the refuge, you can have breakfast with a panoramic view…
Other details
Please note that access to the refuge and the observatory can only be made via a path or forest track in very poor condition.
