In the Haute Ubaye Valley, the Chambeyron refuge (CAF) is located on the banks of Lac Premier, at the foot of the Brec de Chambeyron, which peaks at 3,389 meters. In a preserved mineral nature, it invites you to disconnect.
Description
You can come here to do "nothing", except look, listen, smell... enjoy the beauty of the place, and the good cooking of the caretaker.
You will come across hikers there because there are many trails around the refuge.
The only high-altitude refuge in the area, the Chambeyron refuge is a starting point for beautiful day trips or a stopover during hiking trips in Ubaye, or between Italy, Queyras and Mercantour.
Climbers will head towards the Brec de Chambeyron or the Aiguilles de Chambeyron.
For mountain biking enthusiasts, Haute-Ubaye is a superb spot! Some will prefer fishing in the mountain lakes.
The refuge is guarded from April to September in a high mountain atmosphere, there are no showers here, the lakes are nearby, the photovoltaic panels provide electricity for the refuge... disconnection is guaranteed!
During the guarded period, we offer dinner, breakfast, and a snack service during the day. Everything is prepared using local and/or organic produce.
During the unguarded period, part of the refuge remains open (a dormitory with blankets, dining room with a wood stove, dry toilets). You must be completely self-sufficient for meals (no gas).
