12th-century Romanesque building, expanded in the 17th and 18th centuries. A rich collection of 17th-century frescoes can be discovered inside.
Description
This chapel, listed as a Historic Monument dating from the 12th century and enlarged in the 17th and 18th centuries, is the former parish church of the La Baume district, dominated by the majestic Rocher de La Baume, on the left bank of the Durance. The building is marked on the outside by its slender bell tower. Several elements inside are particularly remarkable: a semicircular fresco from the 17th century, a listed high altar and pulpit, and a set of inscribed stalls. Saint Marcel also houses a Stations of the Cross created by Frédérique Maillart and a stained-glass window by Liliane Manière.
