This museum, housed in the former chapel of the Visitandine convent, traces the measurement of human time and Earth time, as well as temporary exhibitions.

Description

Located in the heart of the town of Sisteron, this museum traces the measurement of human time and the time of the Earth. It is a stop on the Haute-Provence Geopark's time route.

In the former chapel of the 17th century Visitandine convent, listed as a Historic Monument, you will discover various instruments and rare objects that help you understand the workings of time and the mechanisms of the earth: Foucault's pendulum, water clocks, sundials, mysterious instruments and rare objects.
You can continue your visit with the Earth and Time circuit in the heart of the city, taking the visitor from religious time (the chapel and the Cathedral) to military time (the Citadel) via civil time (the public clock). As for the Time Route, it will allow you to cross the territory of the Haute-Provence Geopark on this same theme and discover astonishing landscapes.
The museum hosts summer exhibitions.
