Gallo-Roman Museum

In the heart of the town of Sisteron, the Gallo-Roman Museum presents exceptional pieces and a permanent exhibition on funeral rites and the ancient history of the town.

Segustero was a Roman city, located at the crossroads of important roads, including the Via Domitia. This museum traces this ancient history and offers a tour composed of architectural decorations, everyday objects and remarkable statuary. Among the collections labeled "Musée de France", you will admire a set from a mausoleum built by a wealthy family (High Empire) as well as important furniture from the excavations of the mausoleum of Bevons.
The contemporary, evolving, and interactive setting will ensure you have a pleasant and informative experience. The museum is located in the Ornano building, which also hosts temporary exhibitions.
You can continue your visit by exploring Sisteron (time trail, cathedral, citadel). The town is also the starting point for the Route du Temps, which crosses the Haute-Provence Geopark.
