This square, which bears the name of the famous writer born in Aubagne, once constituted the whole of the Old Hospital created in the 15th century.
Description
In 1662, Louis XIV ordered the creation of "charities" whose aim was to take in beggars and abandoned children.
Weakened by the earthquake of 1708, the hospital was abandoned for the hospital near the Guilhempierre gate, now a private residence.
The square was created by demolishing an unsanitary block in the 1960s.
