Description
The La Javie Ecomuseum presents the life of the village and Haute Bléone in the past and offers a true journey through time through 8 themed exhibitions. Free admission.
For over twenty years, the association La Javie Autrefois has been working to reconstruct the history and ancestral ways of life of Haute-Bléone. Working with local residents, a team of volunteers has built a vibrant, rich space. Hundreds of objects, photographs, documents, and testimonies are presented in the former presbytery, in the heart of the village. There, you will find a reconstructed grocery store, a classroom, a kitchen, a laundry room, as well as numerous agricultural and craft tools. Note that the shepherd's room is a stopover (No. 17) on the Routo, the route that follows the old transhumance paths from La Crau to the Italian pastures. Open by appointment by phone and free admission. A hike to the Notre-Dame Chapel and the communal washhouse (La Bugade exhibition) is also offered after the visit (30 minutes).
