It dates from the 17th century.

Description

The many springs located near and in the village have made life easier for the people of Tulle since ancient times. In 1609, master mason Lardeyret was tasked with building the pipes and basins necessary for the villagers' lives, notably allowing the supply of the fountains of the time, including the one that would become the Round Fountain. In the 17th century, the expansion of the village required the construction of new facilities, including the Lower Fountain and a bridge over the Chaffère. As early as 1858, the Municipality proposed the construction of several wash houses, which received the Prefect's approval in 1863. In 1864, the wash houses of the Lower Fountain took on the appearance we know today.
