Description
Discovering the fountains of Manosque means traveling through the centuries through the ingenuity of men.
Start the route at the Town Hall Square and turn right to discover the first fountain (Oswald Bouteille).
Then take the small Rue du Mont d'Or on the right. At the end of the street, turn left onto Rue de la République. The second fountain is located on Place des Observantins.
Then turn left onto rue du Soubeyran and reach place Marcel Pagnol where the 3rd fountain is located (fountain place Marcel Pagnol).
Going up Rue du Soubeyran, turn right into Rue de la Figuière, cross the boulevard to reach the 4th fountain.
Walk along the boulevard towards Porte Soubeyran. Cross the intersection in front of you to discover the 5th fountain on Boulevard Martin Bret.
Return to the old town via Boulevard Casimir Pelloutier until you reach Rue Guilhempierre on your left. Going up this street, you will find the 6th fountain.
Then continue along Rue Guilhempierre until you reach Rue Adolphe Defarges on your right. This will lead you to Place du Terreau, a large parking lot in the city center that hosts part of the Saturday morning market. Here you will find the 7th fountain.
At the end of Place du Terreau you will find Oswald Bouteille Square. Behind the War Memorial, you will see the 8th fountain.
Go back down Boulevard Elémir Bourges and, a few meters further, take a short detour to Rue de la Liberté. At the top of the stairs, admire the 9th fountain.
Now cross the boulevard at the Carzou Center, and don't forget to enter to discover the work of Jean Carzou, monumental paintings on the theme of the Apocalypse. It's just a few steps away that you'll discover the 10th fountain.
Then go down Rue Sans Nom to reach Avenue Majoral Arnaud, its beautiful flowery roundabout and the 11th fountain (Fontaine Daudet).
Go up the road until you reach the 12th fountain, just next to the roundabout, at the corner of Place du Dr Joubert.
Walk up Avenue Jean Giono and cross at Porte Saunerie. Turn right and walk down Rue de l'Eden, then turn right onto Esplanade François Mitterrand. The 13th fountain is located at the end of this wide square.
Go back up Rue de la Reine Jeanne, on your left. You will reach Boulevard de la Plaine and its small parking lot. This is where the 14th fountain is located.
Go back down the boulevard, take the Privat-Jean Molinier space and turn left onto rue du Dauphiné to see the 15th fountain, under the vault.
At the end of this street, cross the ring road (also called the "city tour") and enter old Manosque via Rue d'Aubette. On the left, you will see the 16th fountain.
Continue your visit to the historic center along Rue Chacundier, on the left, you will see the 17th fountain.
Retrace your steps a little to take the street on your left and climb the stairs. You will reach Place du Caragou where the 18th fountain is located.
Take Rue d'Aubette again and turn left to reach Place du Contrôle and the 19th fountain.
Continue the circuit straight ahead, towards Place des Ormeaux. It is at the apse of the Saint-Sauveur church that you will find the 20th fountain.
Voland Street now takes you back up to the church gate where the 21st and last fountain is located.
