Since the end of the 16th century, the local nobility and the bourgeoisie have administered the city.
These families left behind the most beautiful private mansions still clearly visible today.
Description
The "Grand Ostau" of the Eyroux de Pontevès rises in the form of a six-story tower on the side of the street below, and opens onto the street above through a courtyard of honor closed by a beautiful portal with a triangular pediment.
During the revolution, the family's property was confiscated, Eyroux being a royal naval officer.
His aunt remained in the house and returned his possessions to him long after the revolution.
The house was sold by candlelight in 1921 to the Eyriès family (a naval officer's family).
