The Fort de Savoie is a superb 17th-century military structure. In the rooms once used by the garrison's soldiers, you'll discover the permanent exhibition "History(ies) of a Fort" as well as the immersive projection "The Story of Vauban"

Description

Overlooking Colmars-les-Alpes, the Fort de Savoie has watched over the Haut-Verdon Valley since the 17th century. Built to defend the border against the Duchy of Savoy, it now combines historical heritage with immersive technology.

The tour, led by Claude Du Puy, a soldier under Louis XIV, mascot and fictional guide, combines models, videos and scenography to reveal the history of the site and the lives of the soldiers.

Highlight of the visit: “The Story of Vauban,” an immersive projection in the former garrison hall.

The fort also hosts concerts, shows, medieval festivals, conferences and escape games.

Open from June to October. Access may be restricted depending on events: inquire at the Tourist Office.
