Description
Located in the center of the village of Castellane, the Maison Nature & Patrimoines is made up of two main exhibitions.
In 2026, the Maison Nature & Patrimoines is extending the "Sacred Beliefs!" exhibition on popular beliefs. Linked to Catholicism or located on its fringes, they are an integral part of daily life. Pilgrimages and local saints, but also magic, superstitions, and witchcraft—discover the rituals rooted in the region.
The museum's permanent exhibition "Mermaids and Fossils" evokes the period when manatees and dugongs populated the sea which covered the region. Exceptional fossils, unique in the world, can be discovered on site, at the Col des Lèques, located in the town.
On the first floor of the building, you'll find the Verdon Regional Natural Park Visitor Center, which offers information about the area and hiking trails, our free-access bookstore, and a temporary exhibition space. Find more information on our website!

From April 11th to April 26th, open Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday from 10am to 1pm and from 3pm to 6pm. Closed on Wednesdays and weekends.
