


Castellane, the “happy” surprise!

Napoleon's arrival at Castellane caused a real surprise. Around noon, the column arrived, with music at the head, onto the large square where the population was milling about.
Description
At the sub-prefecture hotel, Napoleon eats
a meal prepared at the inn.
Cries of “Long live the Emperor” rose up. Napoleon
is welcomed by the mayor, Saint-Martin, and the sub-prefect Francoul dismissed by Louis XVIII in January.
