Overlooking the Laye valley, the village is home to magnificent 16th-century dovecotes, including the four-story "Curé Martin" dovecote, dating from 1553. There is a lovely panoramic view of the Lure mountain from the square.
Description
Like many other villages in the area, Limans has been occupied since ancient times. Traces of structures dating back to the Roman era can be found there.
The heart of the village has preserved many heritage elements dating from different periods of the Middle Ages (decorated doors, lintels, remains of walls, etc.).
The 14th-century St. George's Church, listed as a historic monument since 1962, features beautiful inset sculptures dating from the 11th and 12th centuries, as well as early Christian religious objects.
The commune also has a good number of dovecotes, most of which are privately owned, some of which have been restored.
Explore the village to discover its dovecotes, its old houses, the pretty fountain or even the 13th century round tower (remains of the castle) - For a long time this was the communal threshing floor (ground paved in strips).
On the square, the Limans bistro welcomes you for a refreshment or a dinner with local flavors, with the added bonus of a lovely view of the Lure mountain.
Nearby, the hamlet of Ybourgues is picturesque with its old castle and a dovecote tower.
