The Mont-Chiran Observatory invites you to explore the stars in a unique and preserved natural setting.
At 1 m, the Mont Chiran Observatory, a former CNRS site, has been reborn as a refuge and observatory open to the public. Located in the heart of the Verdon Natural Park, it offers a 905° panorama of the Pre-Alps, the Southern Alps, and the Mediterranean. Beneath its dome, a 360 mm telescope (F/406) allows visitors to admire nebulae, galaxies, globular clusters, planets, and the Moon, guided by a passionate guide.
Hikers and curious visitors are invited to spend the night in the refuge, which features restrooms, orientation tables, and eco-friendly equipment. At nightfall, the exceptional sky of the Verdon reveals its intimacy: astronomy evenings, extended observation, shared learning. A revitalizing celestial journey, between raw nature and scientific wonder.

Astronomical Animation: €23 adults / €16 children
The astronomy evening includes: the presence of an astronomer who will operate the telescope to allow you to discover celestial objects.
You will be able to observe throughout the night, if the atmospheric conditions are suitable.
The astronomer is there to answer your questions, so that you can deepen your knowledge of astronomy.
