The Puimichel observatory offers evening stargazing and daytime sungazing
Description
Under the starry sky of Puimichel, passion and astronomy meet for magical and friendly observation evenings.
Perched on the Valensole plateau, the village of Puimichel is a haven where the clear sky reveals its wonders. Since the 1980s, the Coupoles de Puimichel association has been reviving a unique astronomical tradition, with rare telescopes like the T106, one of the largest amateur refractors in Europe. More than a collection of instruments, it's a human adventure where enthusiasts and visitors gather for observation evenings, workshops, conferences, and a planetarium.
The 1 m diameter telescope was built on site. It remains one of the largest amateur telescopes in the world accessible to the public to this day! You can also discover the manufacturing stages of the mirrors that will equip observatories around the world, as the association manufactures these optical parts in its workshop.
Every summer, the Night of the Stars transforms the village into a celestial theater, offering a magical immersion into the universe. In Puimichel, you don't look at the stars: you experience them.
2-hour observation evenings are organized on request and depending on the weather throughout the year.
