Established along the road linking Digne to Saint André, Moriez experienced a strong activity in the 19th and 20th centuries with the manufacture of sheets and the distillation of lavender. Its name comes from the Latin Muria which means salt, linked to its salt well,

Description

This village, which is apparently one of the oldest in the region, contains numerous monuments which bear witness to its rich past: Roman remains, a medieval keep, a salt fountain, the Romanesque church of Saint Barthélémy, noble residences dating from the 18th century... a walk there will immerse its visitors in the heart of several eras of the history of our region.

In addition, the "Plant Fair" in May is an event not to be missed: on this day the village is transformed into a veritable open-air nursery! Not forgetting the "white evenings" in August...
