Description
A town in the countryside, that's how Oraison could be defined. You can come across nine fountains and three wash houses, oratories or the ruins of the castle built on the Tholonet hill. The Notre-Dame du Thor church probably dates from 1662, the St Pancrace chapel from the 12th century and the private castle is Renaissance style. Don't miss a stop to quench your thirst at the Belle Epoque-style Café du Commerce, built in 1897 before crossing the sublime seven-arched bridge that has crossed the Durance since 1888.
A town of delicacies, Oraison is a must-see for all lovers of the flavors of Haute-Provence. Many artisans open the doors of their factories, their manufacturing workshops, but also their shops, for a moment of tasting. They create regional, traditional and sometimes even family recipes: pâtés, terrines, savory or sweet biscuits, honey, but also "pieds et paquetes", Provençal tarts, calissons, chocolates, nougats, almond pastes and fruit pastes, chocolate-covered almonds, pralines, charcuterie, tapenades, olive oil... sweet or savory delights that you will not fail to appreciate!
