A very ancient pilgrimage site linked to the presence of a reputedly miraculous spring, the Saint Jean du Désert chapel is an isolated mountain chapel. It is the brotherhood of Saint Jeanistes who, since at least the 16th century, have organized the procession.

Saint-Jean du Désert Chapel – A place of pilgrimage in the heart of the mountains

Isolated in the heart of the mountains, the Saint-Jean du Désert chapel is a very ancient pilgrimage site, renowned for its miraculous spring. Accessible only on foot via a path, it attracts worshippers and the curious.

Since at least the 16th century, the annual procession has been organized by the brotherhood of Saint-Jeanistes, which ensures the safekeeping of the reliquary bust of Saint John the Baptist and the proper conduct of the ceremonies throughout the route.

This ancestral and living tradition perpetuates the spiritual and cultural history of the territory.

The chapel is only open on the weekend closest to June 24, for Saint John the Baptist Day.
