Unique experience than that of Andy Goldsworthy, internationally recognized artist, who imagines a project combining contemporary art and safeguarding rural heritage on the protected territory of the Geopark of Haute-Provence, around Digne les Bains.
Description
“In a sense, the cairns inside the houses become walking markers and memorials to those who once lived here. Walking the ancient paths that were once the main roads connecting the villages together communicates a strong sense of the energy and life that once existed in the now ruined villages high up in the mountains, and thereby perhaps evokes, in return, the precariousness and fragility of our lives.“ Andy Goldsworthy.
From Digne-les-Bains, take the D20 towards the thermal baths. Pass the thermal baths' car park, continue for 500 metres and then park on the right side of the road in a designated car park near the sign indicating access to the Col Corobin.
About 10 minutes
Continue on foot on the track which starts opposite the car park after crossing a barrier. At the end of the track, pass a first gate, turn left opposite the indication for the Château de la Reine Jeanne. The path continues through a landscape of black marl. Continue straight towards the oaks. Go through a second gate then you will see the Thermes refuge on the left.
About 15 minutes.
