A singular experience that of Andy Goldsworthy, artist
internationally recognized, who imagines a project combining contemporary art
and safeguarding rural heritage in the protected territory of the Haute-Provence Geopark, around Digne les Bains.
Description
"The cave will be a space where people can stand, a place where others have stood before them, where others will stand after them. Each visitor will reinforce this human presence. The experience of the cave will offer a stark contrast to the open-air mountains. I couldn't imagine a better preparation for the refuges."

From Digne-les-Bains:
Take the N85 towards Sisteron, Aix-en-Provence. In Mallemoisson, turn right at the traffic lights and follow the D17 to Thoard. In Thoard, turn right, just after the public fountain, at the GTPA sign (red-yellow) and pass the retirement home. The road climbs steeply towards the place called La Bannette (inn).
Park at the hostel or continue along the pebbles for 100 meters and park in the marked parking lot (Haute Provence Geological Reserve sign).
About 30 minutes
Continue on foot on the marked rocky track (GTPA). We come across a memorial then a ruin on the left, then the path runs along a field of lavender. At the end of this field, leave the GTPA for a path that branches off to the left. Turn left at the top. The chapel is below.
