The first known place of worship is cited in 1351 with "Ecclesia de Monteclaro" served by a chaplain. It was placed under the title of Saint Michelet located on the site of the castrum and the first castle.

Description

During the desertion at the beginning of the 1555th century and following the damage caused by the wars of religion, the castrum was abandoned, the community built in 1602, a church under the title of Saint Pierre, to the south and at the bottom of the old village instead -known as ''the Valley'' later called the Chapel. A chapel perhaps already existed at this location which had to be restored and enlarged on this date and then again in XNUMX.
From then on, Saint Pierre served as a parish, but the Bishop of Embrun wanted the old parish to be reestablished under the title of Saint Michel. This was done in 1645 in the Serre-Nauzet district despite the opposition of the inhabitants of Vallon and the surrounding hamlets.
The ruins of the castrum chapel seem to have survived for a long time since in the surveys of places of worship in 1868 and 1899, the chapel of La Salette is said to have been built on the remains of the old parish.
