The building is perfectly oriented which indicates a construction corresponding to the renewal of the village. The title to Mary Magdalene further reinforces this dating, the cult of this saint having developed from the 12th century.
Description
Villaudemard is undoubtedly a Carolingian foundation and the name ''Audemar'' is an anthroponym of Germanic origin: we must be in the presence of a Carolingian estate, courtyard or villa, accompanied by a place of worship. Undoubtedly deserted during the serious unrest of the 1735th century, witness the place called Vierard attached to Villaudemard by the Napoleonic land register, the village came back to life during the second millennium. It became the capital of a small community with a place of worship and a cemetery. Although the registers mention acts from 1792 to 1779, the Cassini map (XNUMX) does not mention the village but a chapel under the title of Saint Marc.
