The Limans region, in the Forcalquier region, is home to some of the most beautiful and well-maintained dovecotes in Haute Provence. Most date from the 16th and 17th centuries and feature carefully carved coved cornices.

Description

The most remarkable dovecotes are those of the Terre du Curé de St-Martin with its sleeve-shaped dovecotes or the Pré du Maire Caton, in the heart of the village, with its fifteen meters of height, that of Fontvieille and especially that of the Ibourgues with four levels: covered cistern, tool store, kitchen, which use the unevenness of the ground and which are accessed by landing. The fourth level or dovecote itself is reached by a staircase built into the very thickness of the wall. This dovecote of the Ibourgues is part of a very old fortified farm whose foundations date back to the 13th century.
