The star suspended between the two cliffs gives rise to many legendsAccording to the most famous one, told by Frédéric Mistral, a knight named Blacas, imprisoned during the Crusades, had sworn to hang a star in homage to the Virgin Mary if he returned alive. Thus, it is assumed that he was freed.

Since 1981, Moustiers-Sainte-Marie has been recognized as one of the "Most Beautiful Villages of France" This distinction is due to the richness of its architectural ensemble. In addition to the two historical monuments mentioned above, the village also has ramparts dating from the Middle Ages, an aqueduct, three wash houses and numerous fountains.

• Summer is the most popular time in Moustiers-Sainte-Marie. The lavender fields are in full bloom from mid-June to mid-July, and watercraft rentals are very popular. Rougon, which dominates the sublime point, is only 45 minutes from Moustiers-Sainte-Marie. For its part, Sainte-Croix-du-Verdon borders the eponymous lake and offers magnificent views of the water. In addition, Laugh the Roman, a village steeped in history, hosts a market on Wednesday and Saturday mornings, one of the largest in the region.
