The star suspended between the two cliffs gives rise to many legendsAccording to the most famous one, told by Frédéric Mistral, a knight named Blacas, imprisoned during the Crusades, had sworn to hang a star in homage to the Virgin Mary if he returned alive. Thus, it is assumed that he was freed.

Since 1981, Moustiers-Sainte-Marie has been recognized as one of the "Most Beautiful Villages of France" This distinction is due to the richness of its architectural ensemble. - Summer is the most popular time in Moustiers-Sainte-Marie. The lavender fields are in full bloom from mid-June to mid-July, and watercraft rentals are very popular. The village comes alive with at least one free concert per week and several markets that are held for half a day or all day. If you prefer to avoid the big crowds, we recommend either spring or fall.

The Patronal Festival
From August 31 to September 8, don't miss the Patronal Feast of Notre-Dame de BeauvoirIn the village streets, the wake-up call is given at 5 a.m. every morning by the Dianaïres, a group of musicians from Moustiers.
September 8: Meet at 4:30 a.m. on rue de la Diane for the departure of the procession towards the Notre-Dame de Beauvoir Chapel. Live an immersive experience as you join the villagers who go up to the chapel, to the rhythm of the Dianaïres. At 5 a.m., Dawn Mass at the chapel. Breakfast then takes place on the Church Square.
