Description

Nestled in the heart of the Alpes de Haute Provence, in the charming village of Banon, Le Bleuet bookstore is a true institution for book lovers. Founded in 1990 by Joël Gattefossé, it is now recognized as the largest independent French bookstore in rural areas.

It is open 365 days a year, from 10am to 19pm (20pm in July and August).

Housed in several old, typically Provençal stone houses, the bookstore blends perfectly into the village's setting. This warm and picturesque setting, in the land of Jean Giono, attracts thousands of visitors each year from all over France... and far beyond.

With a rich and eclectic collection of several tens of thousands of works (we are talking about 100 works...), the Le Bleuet bookstore meets all reading desires: novels, essays, comics, youth, nature, spirituality, cooking, history... The bookstore also offers a careful selection of stationery, tourist guides, maps and local souvenirs reflecting the region.

Since 2016, Isabelle and Marc Gaucherand have been running the bookstore, with a particular focus on providing a warm welcome. You'll be accompanied by passionate booksellers, always available to chat, advise, and share their favorites.

More than just a bookstore, Le Bleuet is a truly vibrant cultural venue. Throughout the year, enjoy a variety of literary events, including author meetings, public readings, debates, children's stories, exhibitions, and literary or botanical hikes in the surrounding area's sublime landscapes.

Every summer, the bookstore also transforms into a space for artistic escape. Don't miss the weekly literary naps and thematic evenings centered around theater, jazz, cinema, and even meditation.
