Description

A European-scale project, VIAPAC – Contemporary Art Route connects the towns of Digne-les-Bains, in France, to Caraglio, in Italy, thanks to the works of twelve contemporary artists. The works of this Route, all created specifically for the places in which they are located (natural sites, heritage buildings), are real keys to understanding the identity of this lower Alpine territory in an original way.
The Haute-Provence Geological Nature Reserve, in partnership with the General Council of the Alpes de Haute-Provence, the Piedmont Region and the Marcovaldo cultural association, have developed the contemporary art route, VIAPAC project, between Digne and Caraglio (Italy).
This project is unique in that it commissions permanent works along a road route (D900) passing through the Clues de Barles, the Col Saint-Jean, the Col de Larche, thus creating a contemporary art route to contribute to the development of tourism and culture between France and Italy.
