Description
From the hamlet of Chauvets, the ascent starts on the track marked in yellow, the furthest to the right just after the Saint-Pierre chapel.
After 600 m, a bend in the track is cut to take the path which, due north, will join the Portail de Blieux. The pass, located between the Grand Mourre on the right and the Chiran on the left, is clearly visible. Arriving at the Blieux portal, you join the wide track which climbs to the summit, at an altitude of 1905 m.
On site, you'll find the Mont Chiran Observatory, a refuge, and an orientation table. It's said that from up there, in good weather, you can see up to 1/5 of the surface of France.
