Description
A true journey through space and time, this discovery route of the Haute-Provence Geopark will take you to discover an astonishing territory, which combines the past, the present and the future.
From the gorge carved by the Durance River at Sisteron, the Route du Temps climbs to Saint-Geniez. In the heart of the Monges massif, you will then cross Authon and plunge into the cool shade of the Fontbelle forest. After the village of Thoard, the road winds through the Duyes valley and passes through the birthplace of the philosopher Gassendi. It then follows the course of the Bléone River before joining the Durance River.
You will thus explore a double memory: that of the Earth, with its complex geological history, and that of women and men. While crossing incredible landscapes, you will discover towns and villages, legends, such as that of the Penitents of Mées, remarkable heritage sites, but also high places of biodiversity or history, without forgetting works of contemporary art. Enough to lose track of time!
