A spectacular walk along a balcony path along which you can observe a highly diverse flora and fauna. From the summit of Couguyon, you can enjoy a very extensive view.

Description

From the car park, take the Saint-Pierre gorges trail, cross the Four ravine on a footbridge before entering the gorges which form a magnificent canyon. At the end of the gorges, you come to a crossroads, then follow the one on the left which climbs in hairpin bends under forest cover to the Chabanal hut. Take the opportunity to admire a view which opens onto the Four ravine. Then join the Couguyon pass which culminates at 2103m of altitude, thanks to a path which makes several bends. The return is made by descending into the larch ravine. Pass in front of the Défens huts. Continue the descent until you come to a crossroads where you will have to turn left. You then arrive at a track which you follow to the left for about fifty meters before taking a marked path on the right. Continue the hike to the village of Villars Heyssier, return to the track taken in the morning by car for 1.3 km and return to the starting car park.

Be careful, bad weather erodes the trail, a phenomenon that accelerates in this nature of very friable soil, the robine. This hike is classified difficult, black in color, it takes place on mountain terrain whose conditions are constantly changing.

Delicate passages

This trail is prohibited for mountain bikes and not recommended for people with vertigo. Be careful in spring as the ravines are full of dangerous snow bridges that could collapse when hikers pass by. Likewise, crossing this path can be difficult in the rain.
