You will cross the larch forests and pastures in the heart of the Massif des Monges. The plant diversity of the Tête Grosse mountain pastures is remarkable, particularly the flower species.

Description

The route follows a wide track through a larch forest, then continues along a path through alpine pastures. The climb to Tête Grosse is steep, but at the top, the panorama of the Monges massif, the Blanche range, and the high Alpine massifs is breathtaking. In spring, an explosion of color takes place everywhere. Yellow with the famous arnica, the large-flowered doronicum, and the magnificent European trollwort, among others. Blue with the small oak speedwell, the field gentian, and the Alpine bellflower. And white with the Alpine pasque flower, the Saint Bruno lily, or the northern bedstraw. But some really stand out, like the orange and martagon lily, or the protected woolly beardia. Don't hesitate to bring a small book or consult your phone to find and name the flowers in the lawns. But don't forget that these species are a pleasure for the eyes, don't pick them.

Difficult mountain hike, to be avoided in bad weather, reserved for experienced hikers, especially when climbing the summit.
