A dizzying hike with sublime views of the Durance... with the comfort and safety of being accompanied by a guide!

Description

We climb towards the Trou de l'Argent, overlooking the limestone massif of La Baume, and who says limestone massif... says cave! The Trou in question is a necessary crossing point to reach the summit of La Baume mountain! An unmissable hike for an informed public in the heart of the Haute Provence Geopark.

You’ll find here:

• Presentation of the UNESCO Geopark of Haute-Provence and its astonishing geology: a tormented geological history
• 1h30 climb to reach the foot of the Trou de l'Argent, where you climb a metal ladder to squeeze into a narrow entrance
• Discovery of a small underground world, offering some natural windows to the outside world
• Hike along the ridge to admire the panorama of the Alps, before descending through the forests of the northern slope of the Baume mountain
• Free aperitif upstairs!

Difficulty: level 4/5. 4 to 4 hours of actual walking and 30m of elevation gain during the day • Hike suitable for people in good physical condition. Steep path on the way up, done at a leisurely pace. Feeling dizzy at the summit, but you will be safe and guided.

Supervision: Group hike (max 10 people), supervised by a mountain guide. They will provide you with technical information and introduce you to the local environment. The itinerary may be modified depending on weather conditions or the physical condition of the participants.

Essential equipment: 1 comfortable backpack (20-30L) for your belongings // mountain shoes with crampons // 1 outfit suitable for walking (breathable and light clothing) // 1 water bottle (1L minimum/person) // 1 cap or hat, sunglasses and sunscreen // 1 technical waterproof windbreaker (gore-tex type) or a k-way // your medical treatment (if you have any).

Optional equipment: phone or camera, observation binoculars, hiking poles (if you are used to walking with them!)
Reservations must be made the evening before at the latest.

Meet at the Sisteron Tourist Office. Carpooling will be organized for participants on the outing. Free parking is a 5-minute walk away (SNCF train station).

Details concerning animals Here are the conditions for welcoming your pet: - Please specify the presence of your pet when booking, as sheepdogs may be present during the season. - Medium and large dogs are welcome if they are used to hiking. - Owners will not be allowed to carry their dogs to avoid any accidents.
