Duration 3h
Difficulty Difficult
A short and demanding hike to reach the legendary star chain of Moustiers-Sainte-Marie. Be careful, due to its danger, this route is strongly not recommended for young children.
Description
From the upper level of the village's "high car park", above the cemetery, take the Courchon path up. After a series of hairpin bends, follow the signs for the "Sentier de la Chaîne". The path is steep and rocky, but remains accessible. You will arrive at the promontory of the chain. Retrace your steps to turn left towards a small vertical passage of a few meters to climb (easy level). Follow the signs indicating the place called "Pierrefeu". It is not recommended to take the Ravin de Notre-Dame to reach the village, due to regular landslides, the path can be taken "at the hikers' own risk". Go back down to Moustiers via the Courchon path which offers you a superb panorama of the Sainte-Croix lake.
