A family-friendly walk through the beautiful city of Colmars, sheltered by its Vauban fortifications. Follow the Lance stream through a Scots pine forest and end your walk with the beautiful Lance waterfall.
Description
The path winds between beautiful holiday homes dating from the late 19th and early 20th centuries. Here and there, the canals whose network distributes the waters of the Lance appear, allowing the irrigation of crops. At the bottom of a meadow on the left, a long, single-story building stands out: the old sawmill. Then the path becomes a trail. It runs along the course of the Lance, under the light canopy of Scots pines among rolling hills, alluvial fans of the adjacent ravines. Some of these ravines, still active, drain whitewater during the abundant autumn rains and the spring snowmelt. The path approaches the cliff. After a few strides at the foot of the cliff, the rhythmic and dazzling spectacle of the Lance waterfall appears in a cirque of dark rocks. On cold winter days, the water freezes into ice cascades, a silent echo of rushing water. The return is by the same route.
