Le Lauzet / Roche Rousse / Serre-Ponçon Lake / The Royal Gorges
Class V - VI
World-renowned for whitewater enthusiasts, this section is well worth it... An unforgettable experience.
Description
It is the most technical and challenging of all the valley's routes, but also the best known.
Some consider it an initiatory experience in the world of whitewater sports. After the village of Lauzet, the water seems to calm down, to rest before unleashing its full power.
It's a waterfall, like a crystalline curtain, that will signal the departure. Once you're in the gorge, there's no turning back; you have to go down to the lake, passing through the famous "Lions' Pit."
Significant drop, perilous trajectories, class V and VI rapids, be careful, the first rapid is particularly dangerous, only the most experienced can cross it, the others will use the rope technique, in order to get the boat through.
After 5 km of eddies, jolts, and excitement, the adventure ends in the calm, deep mass of Lake Serre-Ponçon. Magnificent!
