This 18th century troglodyte chapel is nestled in a balm on the south wall of the Robion mountain. Accessible only on foot via a fairly steep hiking trail. It offers you a splendid view.
Description
From Castellane, take the D102 towards Robion. After 8.2 km, near the intersection is the Coulet car park (1063 m).
On foot, take the direction of Petit Robion. Pass near a washhouse.
When you reach the houses in the hamlet, turn left, then right after the oratory. A sign tells you "Chapelle Sainte-Trophime 1.5 km" (300m elevation gain).
The hike takes place on a wide, fairly steep, stony track, leading to a forest.
After a double switchback, you can see the chapel. Once below, the path turns right and begins a series of switchbacks. At the foot of the wall, there are ruins of old installations. Higher up, a narrow staircase leads up to the left to the chapel.
To return, go down the steps and position yourself under the chapel.
Pass between the ruins of a sheepfold, to find a little-used downhill path. Two bends later, you will find cairns.
The progression is made along the edge of a limestone slab. Other cairns mark the route to take. The path passes at the foot of the rock detached from the wall.
He returns to the track taken by going uphill. Further down, follow the signpost for Robion. From Robion follow the D302 bringing you back to the car park.
