Family walk to discover the history and heritage of Castellane. Splendid view of the medieval city from the site of Notre Dame du Roc.

Description

There are three paths to reach the Notre Dame du Roc Chapel from the village. The first is next to the Sacré Cœur church (quite steep from the start). At the end of the steps, turn right. The second, from rue Saint-Victor, take rue de la Côte, join the path allowing you to see the gardens of the Pentagonal Tower (pretty visual on the roofs of Castellane), exit the ramparts and turn right. For the third, (a gentler climb), go to the Tourist Office, continue on boulevard Saint-Michel for a hundred meters, turn right onto chemin du Roc, and climb via the ramparts path.
The Chapel can be visited, and two orientation tables allow you to situate the landscape before you.
On the way back down from the chapel, you can stop at the Petra Castellana site, dating from the Middle Ages, where around ten panels will give you information on the lifestyles of the time.
From this site, a sign points you to the Bas du Serre, balcony path, allowing you to return to the village by making a loop. This path arrives at the supermarket roundabout and the country produce house.
