This loop offers a beautiful panorama: gorges, forests, forest huts and finally the village of Ondres. Inhabited in summer, it makes a lovely shaded stopover. You might have the privilege of observing chamois.
Description
From the Saint Pierre Gorges car park, located 500m after the hamlet of Villars-Heyssier, follow the yellow-marked path due east along the Saint Pierre ravine. Don't forget to make a return trip to the 13th-century Saint-Pierre Chapel, at the entrance to the gorges. Then continue climbing towards the Congerman cabins. Reach a fork and continue climbing to the right until you reach the cabins.
Turn right at the intersection in front of the cabins and follow the path that leads you into the Congerman ravine before continuing below the Pisse en l'Air plateau. You still need to be careful, some parts of this section are rare, but the path eventually arrives at the Col de l'Orgeas. Follow the direction Cabane de l'Orgeas, then that of Ondres (4th path on the left). Cross Ondres and arrive at a crossroads. Continue straight ahead on the GR de pays Tour du Haut-Verdon and reach Le Plan. Turn right and return to Villars-Heyssier then the starting car park.
