This walk allows you to discover, through paths and small country roads, some of the heritage elements of the Asse valley: the Périers castle built in the 17th century and the Notre Dame church.

Description

Take the small road that runs alongside the school. On a small hill to the left, you can see the castle… It belongs to two owners. The left side, renovated several years ago, is occupied, on the right the other side patiently waits its turn. Very quickly, a ravine runs along the right side of the road, a small gurgling stream brings a little freshness in the summer. A climb appears, the slope gradually steepens.
At the first hairpin bend, ignore the track on the right and continue on the tarmac to the left until you reach, on the left, the Notre Dame church with its small cemetery and on the right a flat area with an exceptional view of the valley floor. From left to right, you can see the Pic de Couard, the Cucuyon, the Crête de l'Evèque, the Cluchemet, La Reynière and the majestic Cheval Blanc. The Robines, or black marls, add to the landscape a significant testimony to the geological past of Clumanc. Go through the small gate on the right, (don't forget to close it) and follow the path towards Le Pont de l'Asse.
At the intersection with a small tarmac road, turn left and follow it to the intersection with the RD 19 at the Pont de l'Asse. A little anecdote can be read at the beginning of this bridge: "The Asse, madman who crosses it!" Don't stress! You don't have to take this bridge to continue, you have to turn left and take the road. It will cross La Lèche, a hamlet that once housed the village bar. The wooden glass door has been preserved as if to remember the old people who used to come here to meet. A little further on, to the left, you can see the castle again. The school and town hall building come into view. This is the arrival at the starting point of this timeless walk.
