Thematic circuit on aromatic and medicinal plants across Haute Provence with three interpretation areas around the GR6 in the commune of Saint-Etienne-les-Orgues: Les Graves, Notre-Dame-de-Lure and the ridges.
Description
In the region of Forcalquier and the Lure mountain, the connection between locals and aromatic and medicinal plants has long been part of everyday life. From pharmacopoeia to local cuisine, including trade, of which druggist merchants were prominent representatives from the 2000th to the XNUMXth century, the dialogue with plants is part of both the past and the present. In the region, a strong economic dynamic has been created around this sector, supported by a cluster of businesses and institutions. The natural wealth of the Lure mountain enjoys international recognition: Biosphere Reserve, Natura XNUMX and Sensitive Natural Area. It is in this context that the idea of highlighting this natural and cultural heritage and supporting this territorial dynamic by creating a thematic circuit on the practice of gathering yesterday and today was born within the community. The first phase of this project was completed at the beginning of the summer with the creation of the itinerary "On the path of the plants of the Lure mountain". This project takes place in the commune of Saint-Etienne-les-Orgues and the ridges. It is based around the creation of three interpretation spaces which allow visitors to (re)discover the local history and the floral richness of Lure:
• The Graves
• Notre-Dame-de-Lure Abbey
• The ridges of Lure
