Description
In the heart of a mountain pasture, at an altitude of 1500 m, in the Monges massif, approximately 5 km west of the village itself, you arrive at the discovery trail of the Cubertin arboretum. Contract Natura 2000 "Creation of a forest pond" was launched in 2019, with the aim of promoting biodiversity and in particular the population of European Barbastelle bats. Educational panels on wildlife, a pond and an observation cabin were created, and nest boxes were installed. The Barbastelle bat is a species of forest bat that is very present in the Auzet communal forest. The forest pond helps with its watering and that of other species of birds, reptiles, and insects.
This bat is an Annex II species of the Habitats - Fauna - Flora Directive and the conservation of its winter, breeding and transit sites is very important.
This pleasant hike in a green and preserved environment, shelters an observation cabin with one-way windows to indulge in beautiful observations.
