The largest of the Verdon lakes (2200 ha), a place of relaxation, nautical activities and history.
Description
Located between the Gorges du Verdon and the lavender fields of the Plateau de Valensole, the beach of Sainte Croix du Verdon invites you to relax and do water sports in a preserved setting a few minutes walk from the village.
The Sainte Croix lake was created by the watering of the valley by EDF from 1973 to 1975. From its rocky promontory, the village of Sainte Croix was spared.
Today, the lake serves as a water reserve and produces electricity for the surrounding communities. It is better known as a place of leisure and vacation. The ban on gasoline engines guarantees respect for the environment and your peace of mind.
The village of Sainte Croix du Verdon offers an equipped beach, where swimming is supervised in summer. To enjoy the lake, it is also possible to rent electric boats, pedal boats, canoes, etc. The Sailing and Boating Association offers sailing, rowing and paddle lessons.
