Come and discover the heart of the Rochers des Pénitents des Mées and the magnificent viewpoints over the Durance Valley.

Description

Development of the Sensitive Natural Area (ENS) of the Pénitents des Mées
pursues a dual objective: to promote the accessibility of places to as many people as possible, while giving the visitor the keys to understanding to better
appreciate the surrounding landscapes.
The Penitents trail was created in the 1990s by Jean Millet. This employee of the commune of Les Mées, helped by friends, imagined and laid out the first route through this spectacular site on a voluntary basis.
The environment service teams, in consultation with those of the town hall, have worked to harmonize the transition from the urban environment of the town center to the natural space itself. Result: a departure directly from the old center which quickly leads to the ridge line to make the most of the magnificent panoramas over the Durance valley.
Along the way, belvederes have been set up to offer splendid viewpoints to the walker; panels also provide valuable information to better understand the Penitents.
