Rock climbing on the Verdon cliffs
The Verdon cliffs are open to climbing enthusiasts all year round. Connoisseurs will describe these ascending routes, almost devoid of vegetation and adorned with sculpted limestone formations, as having "beautiful rock and beautiful climbing".
Several difficulty levels exist across the 1500 possible routes, ranging from 250 to 350 meters. Routes like "The 6th Element," "Poker with 5 Aces," and "The Song of the Suns" have not yet revealed all their secrets.
We cannot fail to mention some of the climbers who began to scale these walls in secret. Georges Livanos, Gaston Rébuffat… But it is probably Patrick Edlinger, with his films *La vie au bout des doigts* and *Opéra vertical*, shot in the Verdon Gorge, who propelled climbing into the spotlight.
"Patrick Edlinger has brought climbing into the history of France." Jean-Michel Asselin.
