Barcelonnette is arguably the French city that best embodies the Mexican spirit. For three days in October, the city transforms into the vibrant colors of Mexico to celebrate the Day of the Dead with activities that are both unusual and deeply rooted in Mexican tradition.

The attachment between Mexico and the Ubaye Valley

This event pays homage to the Day of the Dead, a tradition of pre-Hispanic origin that celebrates the temporary return of the deceased to the living. Since 2008, this Mexican festival has been part of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity, inscribed on the UNESCO list.
