The Thousand-Leaf Goat

Mohair is the fiber derived from the Angora goat. Incredibly soft, insulating, warm, and vaporous, it holds dye well over time, making it ideal for making high-quality, durable clothing and accessories.
My goats are born, grow, and die on the farm. Except in bad weather, they are taken out every day and all year round to pasture, in large rangelands where they have access to a very wide variety of plants. Most of their food comes from our land: grass, medicinal plants, leaves, but also the hay that we produce on the farm. I supplement their diet with sainfoin and sometimes (rarely) with cereals, produced in the department. They are treated as much as possible with "soft" medicines, and with plants that I pick around the farm. The males and the old ones stay with the herd and offer us their mohair like the others!
I offer two product lines:
- the "Mohair des Fermes de France" range: I send my wool to our collective of breeders, SICA Mohair (Tarn). The mohair from all the member producers (small French farms) is pooled in order to have access to the best French and northern Italian manufacturers. We thus obtain balls, socks, hats, scarves, gloves, jackets, ponchos, blankets, slippers, etc. These products carry the "Mohair des fermes de France" quality mark.
- the "Mohair 100% PACA" range: these are items made with mohair from our herd only. The transformation of raw mohair into skeins is done at Laines du Valgaudemar (Hautes-Alpes), and the hand weaving as well as the design and sewing are carried out by us on the farm! For ultra-local mohair products: blankets, ponchos, sweaters, etc.
