European Heritage Days
Every year in September, the European Heritage Days invite young and old to discover the cultural and heritage riches of our regions in a different way.
Created in 1984 by the Ministry of Culture, they are today one of the largest cultural events in Europe, bringing together more than 30 million visitors in nearly 50 countries.
New discoveries and unusual visits
Monuments, religious buildings, industrial sites, private homes, and places usually closed to the public are exceptionally open. These visits are often accompanied by activities:
- thematic tours and guided tours,
- demonstrations of know-how,
- concerts, shows and musical walks,
- educational activities for schools starting on Friday with the “Look up!” operation.
A 43rd edition focusing on endangered heritage
In 2026, the European Heritage Days will take place on September 19th and 20th, with the theme "Heritage in Danger". This is the perfect opportunity to (re)discover the diversity and richness of the buildings in the Alpes de Haute Provence, by exchanging ideas with the enthusiasts and professionals who contribute to their preservation.
