Village of Prads-Haute-Bléone

A pretty road bordered by majestic mountain ranges and high cliffs folded by erosion which will delight climbers and geologists, even “aspiring” ones!

This large town comprising several hamlets or villages, such as Blégiers, Chanolles, Saume Longe..., represents the high mountain sector of the Pays Dignois and the UNESCO Geopark of Haute Provence. Prads Haute Bléone culminates at 2961 m at the Tête de l'Estrop. It is also a superb ascent from the refuge of the same name which allows you to benefit from an exceptional panorama.

Prads is also a forest and pastoral commune where the geology is exposed without restraint. From the village of Chanolles, a 2 to 3 hour round trip hike on the side of the Cheval Blanc mountain will take you to the skeleton of the Ichthyosaur of La Mélaie. This one lived at the end of the Lower Cretaceous, so it is very different from that of the Robine since about 80 million years separate them. It will also be an opportunity to discover wild and majestic landscapes.

From the village of Prads-Haute-Bléone, vous pourrez découvrir le refuge de l'Estrop, un refuge de montagne situé aux sources de la Bléone, à 2.050 m d’altitude et accessible uniquement à pied.
From the parking lot at Lac des Eaux Chaudes, embark on a gradual immersion into the wild nature of Haute-Provence. The route begins on the track leading to the hamlet of La Combe, before climbing through the forest and crossing several avalanche chutes.

The Lac des Eaux Chaudes is a preserved natural site enhanced by educational signage on the themes of fauna and flora.

Starting from the village, thrill-seekers can take on a Via Ferrata: the Via Ferrata of the Meichira Cliff.
It offers a spectacular view of the Upper Bléone Valley, at an altitude of over 1000 meters.
The Via Ferrata takes approximately 3 hours. An escape is possible halfway. It is accessible to children from 1m40 and 40 kg.
