An immersion in local history
The Hidden Treasures of Manosque exhibition presents a selection of rare and unexpected objects from municipal reserves, archives, and departmental collections. Sculptures, paintings, archaeological artifacts, ancient and precious documents: each piece tells a unique story in the city's long history, the first recorded mentions of which date back to the 10th century.
A photographic gallery by Jean François Mutzig
The artist highlights the “architectural treasures” hidden in the city’s nooks and crannies: forgotten staircases, hidden frescoes, ornamental details known only to those in the know. Jean-François Mutzig has devoted himself diligently to this quest and reveals a little-studied face of the city by highlighting the details of the treasures.
A structuring and inclusive cultural project
Supported by the Manosque Tourist and Convention Bureau and the municipal archives department of the town of Manosque, this exhibition marks the inaugural act of a place destined to become the Manosque History and Heritage Interpretation Center, a future interpretation center that is educational, accessible, free, and multilingual. This ambitious project is part of a strong political will to promote local heritage in a sustainable way, in line with the territory's tourism development plan.
