The village of Saint-Geniez nestles at the foot of the southern slopes of the Gouras and Trainon massifs within a heavily eroded black marl anticline. Its agricultural land extends into the Riou de Jabron valley at an altitude of over 1000 meters.

In the heart of the Haute-Provence Geopark, the village of Saint-Geniez is discovered in a remarkable natural setting, rich in heritage.
The village, located at 1,116 m, is nestled against the Gouras and Trainon massifs and protected by the Mélan mountain (1705 m). The commune is located in an agricultural, forestry and rural area which inspires great tranquility. The geological heritage is very rich and allows one to observe various phenomena: the movements of the Earth, the formation of rocks and mountains, the rugged topography with numerous ravines, defiles and narrow valleys.
From its square and its alleyways, the village offers an astonishing panorama, like a reassuring setting. We stroll through its alleys quietly, starting from the fountain or the church, admiring some ancient doors, old buildings and the old washhouse. Outside, its incredible historical heritage can be discovered: the chapel and the crypt of Dromon, dating from the early Middle Ages, and the incredible Pierre-écrite.
